Selective Mutism


Individuals who:

  • frequently speak in some settings but not at all in other settings
  • speak to some people but never to others and/or novel people
  • present as “shy”


  • Non-invasive play and social interactions, while staying in environments the child is most familiar/comfortable in
  • Gently reduce the client’s anxiety while increasing their ability to speak
  • Work within the client’s home, school and community settings
